Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Bicycle Fleet Mechanic (Trainee) to join our operations team in Rock Hill. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals passionate about mechanics, eager to learn, and committed to maintaining a high-quality fleet of rental bicycles. You will be instrumental in the assembly, maintenance, and repair of our electric and traditional bicycle fleet, ensuring our bikes are safe, functional, and ready for riders across the city. This role provides comprehensive training for those with little to no prior professional experience, offering a clear path for skill development and career growth within the micromobility sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly of new rental bicycles according to manufacturer specifications and company guidelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on existing bicycle fleet.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on bicycles, including brakes, gears, tires, and basic e-bike components.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts, ensuring all repairs meet safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Assist with inventory management of parts and tools.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Collaborate with fleet managers and other team members to optimize bike availability and operational efficiency.
  • Learn and adapt to new bicycle models and technologies as they are introduced.

Required Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and their safe operation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Enthusiasm for sustainable transportation and micromobility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with bicycle maintenance or repair (personal or professional).
  • Familiarity with electric bicycle components.
  • Experience working in a warehouse or field operations environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
