Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Agricultural Policy Analyst with a strong focus on rural development. In this role, you will be instrumental in researching, analyzing, and evaluating agricultural policies and their impact on rural communities and economies. You will provide critical insights and recommendations to support sustainable agricultural practices, economic growth, and improved livelihoods in rural areas. This position requires a deep understanding of agricultural systems, policy frameworks, and socio-economic dynamics in rural settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of agricultural policies, legislation, and regulations at local, state, national, and international levels.
  • Assess the economic, social, and environmental impacts of policies on rural development, agricultural productivity, and food security.
  • Develop policy briefs, reports, and presentations summarizing findings and offering evidence-based recommendations.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including farmers, industry representatives, government agencies, and community leaders, to gather insights and build consensus.
  • Monitor emerging trends and issues in agriculture and rural development to proactively identify policy opportunities and challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on policy advocacy initiatives and program development.
  • Contribute to grant proposals and funding applications related to agricultural and rural development projects.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agricultural economics, policy, and rural development issues.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, SAS, SPSS).
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Public Policy, Rural Sociology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or international development organizations.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
