Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Oncology Registered Nurse to join our exceptional team in Round Rock, TX. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients throughout their treatment journey, from diagnosis to survivorship. You will be instrumental in administering chemotherapy and other oncology treatments, managing symptoms, educating patients and their families, and offering emotional support. This position requires a strong clinical background in oncology, excellent communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to patient advocacy and comfort. Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments safely and according to protocol.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and side effects, intervening as necessary.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide comprehensive patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment, symptom management, and supportive care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including documentation of treatments, assessments, and patient responses.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Advocate for patients' needs and ensure a compassionate and supportive environment.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with oncology best practices.
Required Skills
- Current RN license in Texas.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in oncology or a related critical care setting.
- Strong knowledge of chemotherapy administration and oncologic emergencies.
- Excellent venipuncture and central line care skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Experience with specific oncology EHR platforms.
- Prior experience in an academic medical center or large hospital system.
