Job Description

Join our dynamic Day Surgery team as a Porter, playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our fast-paced morning shifts. You will be instrumental in transporting patients, equipment, and vital supplies throughout the department and wider hospital, directly contributing to patient comfort and timely care. This is a physically active role requiring excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients, including those in wheelchairs or on trolleys, to and from day surgery areas, wards, and other departments.
  • Move medical equipment, specimens, and supplies efficiently and securely within the hospital.
  • Assist with the general upkeep and cleanliness of equipment and designated areas.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff members.
  • Respond promptly to requests and prioritise tasks in a busy clinical environment.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, infection control policies, and hospital procedures.
  • Maintain a compassionate and respectful attitude towards all patients, respecting their dignity and privacy.

  • Good physical fitness and stamina to perform manual handling tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment.
  • Experience in a customer service role.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Manual handling training.
