Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of local students? Sylvan Learning of Lexington is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Student Tutoring Assistants to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who love working with children and want to help them succeed academically. As a Tutoring Assistant, you will provide personalized instruction and support to students across various subjects, fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized or small-group instruction to students in areas such as reading, writing, math, and study skills.
- Implement Sylvan's proven curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Motivate and encourage students to achieve their academic goals.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with the Center Director.
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and distraction-free learning environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth center operations.
- Adhere to all Sylvan policies and procedures, ensuring student safety and well-being.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
- Strong foundational knowledge in core academic subjects (Math, Reading, Writing).
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and simply.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or possessing a degree in Education, English, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience tutoring, mentoring, or teaching children/teenagers.
- Familiarity with Sylvan Learning programs and curriculum.
- Ability to work with students across multiple age groups and academic levels.
