Job Description
Are you passionate about surf culture, customer service, and retail? Billabong in Midtown, Oklahoma City, is looking for an enthusiastic and friendly Surf Shop Assistant for casual day work. This role is perfect for someone who loves the surf lifestyle and wants to bring that vibrant energy to our customers, assisting with sales, merchandising, and creating an inviting atmosphere. While Oklahoma City isn’t on the actual coast, our store embodies the spirit of beach life, bringing the best of surf, skate, and swimwear to our community. You’ll be an ambassador for the surf culture, helping customers find the perfect gear and apparel.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with product selection and inquiries in a friendly and engaging manner.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing store environment, including merchandising displays and fitting rooms.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, tagging, stocking, and organizing merchandise.
- Educate customers on product features, brand stories, and the broader surf and skate lifestyle.
- Ensure the shop maintains a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere that reflects our 'coastal' brand identity.
- Handle returns and exchanges politely and efficiently, adhering to company policies.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and assist with other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic mathematical proficiency for handling sales transactions.
- Genuine enthusiasm for surf, skate, or general beach culture and lifestyle.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg) occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail or customer service experience, especially in fashion or lifestyle brands.
- Familiarity with Billabong products or similar surf/skate apparel and accessories.
- Experience operating Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- A proactive, positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow.
