Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our Front of House team as Event Ushers. This is an excellent opportunity for students or anyone looking for flexible part-time work in a vibrant theatrical environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring our guests have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience at every performance, from guiding them to their seats to assisting with their needs throughout their visit. This role offers flexible hours, making it ideal for those balancing studies or other commitments, and provides a fantastic introduction to the performing arts industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome and greet patrons upon their arrival at the theatre.
  • Efficiently scan tickets and direct patrons to their correct seats and sections.
  • Provide accurate information about the venue, facilities, accessibility, and upcoming events.
  • Assist patrons with any queries, special requirements, or concerns in a polite and helpful manner.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all audience members before, during, and after performances.
  • Handle merchandise sales and program distribution as required, accurately processing transactions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the auditorium, foyers, and other public areas.
  • Assist with emergency procedures, including crowd control and evacuations, calmly and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Front of House team to deliver an exceptional standard of customer service.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a clear and audible voice.
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a genuine desire to assist others.
  • Ability to work effectively and remain calm in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment.
  • High level of reliability and punctuality for all scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate stairs frequently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service, retail, or events role (desirable but not essential).
  • Basic first aid knowledge or willingness to undertake training.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts, including bank holidays.
