Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth during weekend program activities and outings.
  • Facilitate group discussions and individual conversations to address concerns, promote positive social skills, and encourage personal growth.
  • Assist in the implementation of structured recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Document observations, progress, and incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with senior staff and other team members to develop and execute youth-centered plans.
  • Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behavior and communication.
  • Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed, following established procedures.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with adolescents.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliability and punctuality for weekend shifts.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation purposes.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some college coursework in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer or paid experience working with youth (e.g., camp counselor, mentor, tutor).
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Knowledge of local community resources for youth and families.
  • Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) are a plus.
