Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and organized Pharmacy Billing Coordinator to join our administrative team. In this crucial full-time, on-site role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of pharmacy claims, ensuring compliance with payer regulations, and optimizing the revenue cycle for our pharmacy services. Key Responsibilities
- Process pharmacy claims to various insurance providers, including private, government, and third-party payers.
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits for pharmacy services.
- Resolve claim rejections, denials, and appeals in a timely manner, collaborating with relevant departments.
- Communicate professionally with patients regarding their billing statements, payment options, and general inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records and documentation within our systems.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Stay informed on changes in billing regulations, coding, and compliance requirements to ensure ongoing adherence.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures and reconciliation activities related to pharmacy billing.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in medical/pharmacy billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy billing processes, including CPT codes and ICD-10 coding.
- Excellent data entry accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex billing regulations and payer guidelines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with patients and colleagues.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is a significant plus.
- Experience with Epic or similar integrated healthcare information systems.
- Previous experience of 2+ years in a hospital or large clinic pharmacy billing setting.
