Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Microsoft Metadata Analyst with a strong focus on Machine Learning to join our innovative team. This is a 100% remote position where you will play a crucial role in managing, cataloging, and optimizing metadata for our machine learning models and data pipelines. You will work closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and data governance teams to ensure the integrity, discoverability, and usability of our data assets. Your expertise will directly contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of our ML development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain metadata management strategies specific to machine learning datasets and models.
- Develop and enforce metadata standards, policies, and procedures across various ML projects.
- Utilize Microsoft Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Catalog, Purview) for metadata discovery, lineage, and governance.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to capture and document critical metadata for new and existing ML assets.
- Implement and manage automated metadata collection tools and processes.
- Analyze metadata to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement in data quality and discoverability.
- Provide training and support to teams on metadata best practices and tools.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data governance framework with an ML lens.
- Monitor metadata health and report on key metrics related to data asset discoverability and usage.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in metadata management, data governance, or data analysis.
- Demonstrated understanding of machine learning concepts, data pipelines, and model lifecycle.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure data services, especially Azure Data Catalog or Azure Purview.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with data modeling and data architecture principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data manipulation and automation.
- Familiarity with data cataloging tools beyond Azure (e.g., Alation, Collibra).
- Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on metadata.
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure Data & AI.
