Job Description
Are you passionate about live music and events? Do you have a strong work ethic, a keen interest in audio technology, and are physically capable of handling demanding tasks? Production Bureau is seeking a motivated Live Sound Engineering Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of concert and festival production. You will work closely with experienced sound engineers, learning the ropes of setting up, operating, and dismantling complex audio systems. This role requires significant physical stamina, including heavy lifting, as you will be integral to the physical logistics of our live setups. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead sound engineers with the setup, calibration, and dismantling of PA systems, mixing consoles, microphones, and other audio equipment for various live events.
- Handle and transport heavy audio equipment, cases, and cables safely and efficiently.
- Run and secure cables, ensuring a tidy and safe working environment on stage and backstage.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting under supervision.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring equipment is packed and accounted for.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and equipment storage areas.
- Act as a proactive and reliable member of the production crew, anticipating needs and offering support.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and company policies.
- Learn and apply best practices in live sound engineering, constantly seeking to expand knowledge and skills.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 25kg regularly).
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure live event environment.
- Basic understanding of audio cables, connectors, and signal flow is a plus, but not essential.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a stagehand, production assistant, or similar role.
- A formal qualification or coursework in sound engineering, audio production, or a related field.
- Full clean UK driving license.
- Forklift certification or experience with heavy lifting equipment.
- Familiarity with various audio consoles (e.g., DiGiCo, Yamaha, Midas) and processing software.
