Job Description
Join the UPS team as a dedicated Route Driver, serving our valued customers in the local Hialeah suburban area. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and safe delivery of packages, upholding UPS’s reputation for reliability and excellent service. You will be responsible for operating a company vehicle, managing your daily route, and providing outstanding customer interactions. This is a stable, ongoing position offering consistent work and a chance to be the face of UPS in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company-provided vehicle to deliver and pick up packages on a designated route.
- Sort and load packages onto the delivery vehicle according to delivery sequence.
- Verify addresses, collect payments, and obtain signatures when required.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues professionally.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups using handheld technology.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance needs.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Lift, carry, and maneuver packages of various sizes and weights, up to 70 pounds independently, and heavier with assistance.
- Effectively communicate with dispatch and supervisors regarding route status and potential delays.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no more than two moving violations or accidents in the last three years).
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 70 pounds independently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using handheld devices or willing to learn new technology quickly.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a delivery, driving, or customer-facing role.
- Familiarity with the Hialeah and surrounding South Florida area.
- A strong commitment to safety and adherence to company procedures.
