Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our specialty lab team in New Port Richey, FL. This role is crucial for preparing customized medications for patients with unique needs, working in a state-of-the-art compounding facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in pharmacy operations, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for precision in pharmaceutical preparation. This is a full-time, on-site position offering weekly pay.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately measure, weigh, and mix active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and other components using specialized equipment.
- Prepare various dosage forms, including creams, ointments, solutions, suspensions, suppositories, capsules, and sterile preparations, following strict compounding formulas and protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile compounding environment, adhering to USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> guidelines as applicable.
- Perform quality control checks on compounded products to ensure accuracy, potency, and sterility.
- Document all compounding procedures, ingredients, and final product information meticulously in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Operate and maintain compounding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to review prescriptions, address patient questions, and ensure patient safety.
- Manage inventory of compounding ingredients and supplies, ensuring proper storage and handling.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with compounding best practices and regulations.
Required Skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
- Current state Pharmacy Technician license in Florida.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a retail or hospital setting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform precise measurements and calculations.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and pharmacy software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in non-sterile or sterile compounding.
- Knowledge of USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> guidelines.
- Experience with specialty pharmacy services or lab work.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field.
