Job Description
As an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) specializing in night shifts, you will play a crucial role in providing advanced clinical care to critically ill and complex patients within our hospital setting. This position requires exceptional clinical judgment, the ability to work autonomously, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care during overnight hours. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to manage patient care, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and ensure continuity of care throughout the night. This is an on-site, hospital-based position, integral to our 24/7 patient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and formulate differential diagnoses for acutely ill patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging studies.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Perform therapeutic interventions and procedures within the scope of practice, such as central line insertion, intubation, and ventilator management.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document all aspects of care accurately and timely.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Respond to medical emergencies and participate in rapid response and code blue teams.
- Maintain strict adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education relevant to acute care.
Required Skills
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in Florida.
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification.
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ACNP in an acute care or critical care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex patient cases independently.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific hospital systems or patient populations (e.g., trauma, cardiac).
- Membership in professional organizations (e.g., AACN, AANP).
- Proven track record of working effectively in a night shift capacity.
- DEA registration.
