Job Description
Join Electronic Arts, a global leader in interactive entertainment, as we seek a talented and passionate Sound Designer to join our dynamic team in Zephyrhills, FL. This full-time position offers full benefits and focuses on creating immersive audio experiences for our diverse portfolio of video games and other media projects. As a Sound Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the auditory landscape of our titles, from intricate sound effects and Foley to environmental ambiences and UI sounds. You will collaborate closely with game designers, programmers, and artists to deliver world-class audio that enhances gameplay and emotional impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, create, and implement high-quality audio assets, including sound effects, ambiences, Foley, and UI sounds, for video games and media projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (design, art, engineering) to integrate audio and ensure it complements gameplay and narrative.
- Edit, mix, and master audio content to meet specific creative and technical requirements.
- Work with various audio engines and middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) to implement sounds effectively.
- Participate in design meetings to provide creative input on audio direction and execution.
- Debug and troubleshoot audio issues, ensuring optimal performance across all platforms.
- Maintain an organized and efficient audio asset library.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies in game audio and sound design.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Sound Designer in the video game or media industry.
- Exceptional proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Nuendo, or Reaper.
- Strong understanding of audio principles, mixing techniques, and acoustics.
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement original sound effects.
- Experience with game audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD).
- Familiarity with game development pipelines and engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A portfolio demonstrating high-quality sound design for interactive media.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Sound Design, or a related field.
- Experience with field recording and Foley artistry.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., C#, Python) for audio integration.
- Knowledge of interactive music systems.
- Passion for video games across various genres.
