Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Online Transcription Assistant with a strong medical background to join our remote team. This is a full-time, work-from-home position where you will play a critical role in converting audio recordings of medical dictations into accurate and comprehensive written reports. You will work with diverse medical specialties, requiring a keen understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional listening skills, typing speed, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports, including patient histories, physical examinations, operative reports, consultation notes, discharge summaries, and other healthcare documents.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting of all transcribed documents.
- Verify patient information and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines (HIPAA).
- Identify and clarify inconsistencies, errors, or missing information in dictations by flagging for review.
- Utilize medical reference materials, dictionaries, and software to ensure correct spelling of medical terms, drug names, and procedures.
- Manage transcription workflow to meet daily quotas and turnaround time requirements.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, and clarity.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, legal requirements, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure high standards of document quality.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
- Excellent listening and comprehension skills
- Typing speed of 65+ WPM with high accuracy
- Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Experience with medical transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment
- High level of discretion and adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification in Medical Transcription, Health Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience with various medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, neurology)
- Familiarity with industry-standard style guides (e.g., AAMT, AHDI)
- Proven track record of meeting productivity and quality targets
- Technical proficiency in troubleshooting common remote work issues
