Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled QC Microbiology Chemist to join our specialized Quality Control team in Seattle, WA. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficacy of our biopharmaceutical products through rigorous microbiological testing and analysis. The successful candidate will perform a variety of microbiological assays, support environmental monitoring programs, and contribute to the overall quality system within a cGMP environment. This position offers a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute routine and non-routine microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process, and finished products (e.g., bioburden, endotoxin, sterility testing).
- Perform environmental monitoring of manufacturing facilities, including viable and non-viable particulate sampling.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation according to SOPs.
- Analyze and interpret test results, troubleshoot deviations, and participate in OOS investigations.
- Document all activities accurately and timely in compliance with cGMP regulations.
- Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and test methods.
- Support method validation, transfers, and qualification activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and R&D teams to resolve microbiological issues.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- 2-5 years of experience in a GMP/GLP microbiology laboratory, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and microbiological testing methodologies (e.g., bioburden, endotoxin, sterility).
- Strong understanding of cGMP regulations and quality systems.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and electronic data management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Microbiology or a related field.
- Experience with microbial identification techniques (e.g., Vitek, MALDI-TOF).
- Knowledge of advanced analytical instrumentation for microbiological analysis.
- Prior experience with environmental monitoring trending and data analysis.
